Job Description

Job Title: User Experience (UX) Researcher Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a UX Researcher at our Irvine, CA facility who loves listening to users, discovering their needs, and drawing insights to design innovative features. These features will impact the automobile user experience with Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles. Using a user-centered process, you will plan, conduct, facilitate, and manage user research within the American context of use. Your role supports the UX design process by delivering insights into user behaviors, expectations, and unspoken needs related to automobiles. You should have a solid understanding of UX design principles and research methods, demonstrating a process-based approach that links marketing, engineering, and social sciences. Experience with evaluative and generative design methods, as well as qualitative and quantitative human research, is essential. You will operate in a fast-paced, agile environment, especially relevant during the transition to electric vehicles, autonomous driving, and innovative transportation solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Supportive Team Player: Foster a culture of empathy and understanding of user needs while balancing business goals. Design Thinker: Engage in rapid listening, ideation, prototyping, and evaluation within an Agile framework. Human-Centered Researcher: Moderate qualitative studies such as ethnography, contextual inquiry, interviews, and participatory design to understand user behaviors and goals. Data-Driven Researcher: Design and analyze quantitative studies, including surveys and experiments, to derive insights that improve vehicle UX. UX Design Researcher: Use research insights to develop and test UX design solutions through personas, scenarios, prototypes, and user testing. Excellent Communicator: Effectively communicate research data and design ideas, guide UX writing, and produce clear visual and written reports. Occasional domestic and international travel up to 20% may be required.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Passion for future automotive UX developments. Portfolio demonstrating at least three projects involving user research, ideation, prototyping, and testing. Creative and analytical problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills across verbal, written, and visual formats. Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Master's or Doctoral degree in Industrial Design, HCI, Human Factors, Psychology, Ergonomics, or related fields. At least 3 years of experience in UX research and design within a cross-functional team. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required for Hyundai-Kia applicants.
