Job Description

USA - WA - Bellevue - SEA1

We are hiring awesome humans, and we hope that includes you!

Are you looking for more than just a job? At Chewy, you’ll find yourself on a career path with other awesome humans, like yourself. You’ll be part of a culture that values everything that you do, who you are, and the goals you have set for your career. We want to give you the opportunity to grow, earn competitive pay, and be happy while you do it. Sounds simple, but we love it.

Your Opportunity:

You will join Chewy’s advanced technology organization as an AI Technologist I—part of a small team of builders applying the latest advances in AI to create intelligent systems that drive innovation. This is a hands-on role designed for people who love to build—capital B builders. It’s perfect for early-career technologists who want to make real-world impact. You’ll experiment, test, and learn by creating. If something works, you keep going. If it doesn’t, you try again. This is not about big organizational integration; it’s about rapid prototyping and discovery in a fast-moving, focused group. And while your focus will be on prototyping, your ideas have the potential to grow into something much bigger—helping the organization see what’s new and possible.

What You’ll Do:

  • Embrace a builder’s mindset: test ideas by building—make, break, and rebuild in pursuit of meaningful, intelligent systems. Fail fast and iterate continuously
  • Identify problems worth solving and take ownership from concept to working prototype
  • Thrive in ambiguity—testing and refining ideas through trial and error, and evolving designs based on what you learn
  • Work closely in a small, tight-knit team to turn ideas into tangible outcomes
  • Bring creativity and technical skill together with the joy of building, experimenting, and learning to craft tools and systems that matter

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field—or another field paired with a demonstrated ability to build and apply technology in practice
  • Hands-on experience building AI-powered systems and the curiosity to find and frame your own problems to solve
  • Proficiency in Python and demonstrated ability to use AI systems in practice
  • Strong understanding of experimental design, data analysis, and performance evaluation
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with openness to tapping into the expertise across the company while still working as part of a small, nimble team

Bonus:

  • Participation in hackathons, open-source projects, or personal side projects that showcase a passion for building
  • Contributions to research, competitions, or innovation showcases

What You’ll Get:

  • A place where you can be your authentic self and grow your career
  • Work in a culture that cares, with managers who value you and your contributions
  • Empowerment to think big, take risks, and deliver results
  • Connections with a diverse group of Chewtopians through Team Member Resource Groups and inclusive programs
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision benefits, in addition to wellness programs and resources

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

We offer different types of insurance and benefits, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. We offer parental leave, family services benefits, backup dependent care, flexible spending accounts, telemedicine, pet adoption reimbursement, employee assistance program, and many discounts including 10% off pet insurance and 20% off at Chewy.com.

Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.

Base Salary Range

$102,000—$163,000 USD
