Staff Product Designer, Data Tools

We’re looking for a Staff UX Designer to lead design on a new data product. This role blends product design, data visualization, and systems thinking. You’ll work closely with PMs, engineers, and data scientists to ship production-grade dashboards and analytics tools that help professionals make better decisions, faster.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Data Design & Visualization

• Design interactive dashboards, charts, and exploration tools that surface real business insights
• Build flexible design patterns that work in embedded BI tools and custom front-ends
• Translate data into clean, thoughtful visuals that drive decision-making

Product Design & Research

• Own the full design process from discovery to handoff
• Run user research and testing across multiple personas (from admins to execs)
• Create user journeys, flows, wireframes, and prototypes across fidelity levels

Collaboration & Systems

• Work cross-functionally with PMs, data scientists, eng, CX, and sales to shape analytics experiences
• Extend the design system to support both BI and front-end implementations
• Present work internally and externally, guide dev implementation where needed
• Prototype and test using Figma and (optionally) front-end code

WHAT YOU BRING

• 6+ years of product design experience, with a strong track record in data-heavy tools or dashboards
• Experience designing inside BI tools (e.g., Thoughtspot, PowerBI, Omni) or similar platforms
• Strong data design instincts (clarity, truthfulness, avoiding misleading visuals)
• Skilled at designing within short-term constraints while keeping long-term vision in mind
• Ability to ship real, usable design systems and components
• Comfortable prototyping with Figma and using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to speed up workflows
• Bonus: React/D3 familiarity, front-end chops, experience designing for knowledge workers or AI workflows

LOGISTICS

• This role is hybrid in San Francisco. Expect to be in-office 4+ days a week.
