Our client is dedicated to the operations and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across the Northeast. They have one of the largest and most diverse in the region, with 500+ systems totaling 110 MW since 2009, they bring deep expertise in field operations, technical troubleshooting, and system optimization. Position: Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician

Location: Old Bridge, NJ (On-Site, Full-Time)

Travel: Regular travel required across New Jersey and surrounding states

The O&M Technician will be a critical member of our operations team, responsible for keeping our solar fleet running at peak performance. This role is hands-on and field-based, involving regular site visits to perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs to ensure optimal system functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on solar PV systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair system issues to minimize downtime.
• Monitor system performance and respond promptly to alerts or underperformance events.
• Maintain strict compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards.
• Accurately document work performed, including test results, repairs, and materials used.
• Coordinate with the operations team to prioritize work, schedule repairs, and order parts.
• Travel daily to multiple sites (with occasional overnight travel as needed).

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with solar PV systems, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair (required).
• Solid knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance techniques.
• Proven ability to follow preventive maintenance procedures and resolve technical issues independently.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet in the field.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently while staying connected with the team.
• Degree, associate degree, or technical certification in electrical, renewable energy, or a related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
• Comfortable with climbing ladders, accessing rooftops, and working at heights.
• Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work in remote field locations.
