Overview :
My client is a highly respected, 55-year-old construction company known for its commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction. With a strong history of successful projects, they are expanding rapidly in the New England area, particularly in Greater Boston, Worcester, and Burlington. they specialize in high-end commercial, institutional, and complex renovation projects, with a focus on delivering excellence across all aspects of construction.

As part of they're expansion, they have secured a major contract with Verizon to revamp critical infrastructure, including data centers and retail stores, across the region. They are seeking a Site Superintendent with significant expertise in managing complex construction projects, particularly those involving MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems, to oversee day-to-day operations, ensure high-quality execution, and lead our teams to success.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Project Management & Leadership :
  • Oversee all on-site activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
  • Lead and manage a team of subcontractors, tradesmen, and laborers, ensuring a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Direct the work of contractors and vendors, ensuring they meet project specifications and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, client representatives, and other stakeholders to keep everyone informed on progress, issues, and milestones.
  • MEP Oversight :
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with MEP systems, including installation, coordination, and troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with the project engineers, MEP subcontractors, and design teams to ensure proper integration and implementation of systems.
  • Ensure that all MEP systems are in compliance with building codes, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Safety & Compliance :
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness on the job site, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct regular site safety audits and lead safety meetings.
  • Ensure all permits and inspections are obtained and passed according to the schedule.
  • Quality Control :
  • Maintain quality control standards across all phases of the project to ensure top-tier craftsmanship and structural integrity.
  • Identify and address any issues related to quality or craftsmanship promptly and effectively.
  • Document and report daily site activities, progress, and issues for management review.
  • Scheduling & Budgeting :
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules, coordinating all activities and resources to avoid delays and disruptions.
  • Manage the logistics of materials, equipment, and personnel to ensure timely availability and proper utilization.
  • Track project expenditures and provide input on budgetary concerns, ensuring that costs remain within established limits.
  • Client & Stakeholder Relations :
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and local authorities to ensure the smooth progression of the project.
  • Provide regular updates to the client and project manager on site conditions, progress, and potential challenges.

Qualifications :

  • Experience :
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent.
  • Extensive experience managing MEP systems on high-end commercial projects, especially in renovation and data center environments.
  • Proven experience in overseeing large-scale, complex projects, ideally in sectors such as telecommunications, data centers, or retail.
  • Skills :
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing installations.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Buildertrend, or similar).
  • Certifications :
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is preferred.
  • LEED accreditation or similar sustainability-related certifications are a plus.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
  • Education :
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required.
