Summary

Lincoln Electric is seeking a Project Engineer - PLC Systems Engineer to support our Red Viking subsidiary based out of Plymouth, MI. The Project Engineer - PLC Systems Engineer will support, optimize, and enhance Manufacturing Execution System (MES) production solutions within a manufacturing environment. This role blends technical expertise, customer collaboration, and problem-solving to ensure system reliability, adaptability to ongoing production changes, and continuous improvement in plant floor performance and reporting.

What You Will Do:

 

Develop and Validate PLC Logic 

  • Write, implement, and validate programmable logic controller (PLC) logic to ensure accurate and reliable plant floor reporting.

 

Customer Collaboration & Support

  • Partner closely with customers to upgrade, maintain, and troubleshoot production-critical manufacturing systems, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent performance.

 

Operational Continuity

  • Maintain hands-on involvement with customers to ensure continued and uninterrupted operation of manufacturing systems.

 

Change Management

  • Proactively adapt to rolling production changes by maintaining documentation, organized processes, and flexible system configurations.

 

Process & System Optimization

  • Apply your system knowledge to continuously refine manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, reliability, and output quality.

Required Education & Experience

  • 2+ years of hands-on plant floor experience (preferred).
  • PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Mitsubishi systems (strong plus). Allen Bradley is most commonly used.
  • Electrical design and programming experience (plus).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design and implement efficient solutions.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Self-directed, proactive, and detail-oriented (will often work independently).
  • Proven ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 80% domestically and internationally. About 80% of the travel is within the US (Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio)
