Inviting applications for the role of Power BI Developer

Location: Richmond VA (Hybrid)

Responsibilities

• Support ad hoc reporting and analysis requests from leadership and business teams.
• Document report logic, data sources, and business rules for operational continuity.
• Ensure adherence to data governance, version control, and deployment standards.
• Conduct peer reviews of BI deliverables and mentor junior BI developers.
• Perform advanced SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
• Maintain and enhance semantic models, datasets, and dataflows in Power BI.
• Collaborate with business analysts and data engineers to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and alignment with KPIs.
• Optimize data models, DAX expressions, and report performance for usability and responsiveness.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable BI solutions.
• Lead the development and enhancement of Power BI dashboards, SSRS reports, SSAS models, and Tableau visualizations , used across business functions.
• Experience with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD for BI deployments.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Agile development practices and sprint-based delivery.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and reporting lifecycle.
• Experience working with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms is a plus.
• Proficiency in DAX, T-SQL, and data modeling techniques.
• Strong expertise in Power BI, SSRS, and SQL Server.
• Good experience in BI development and data analysis.
• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and define analytical objectives
• Build and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, SSRS, or Excel
• Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from relational databases
• Support data validation, cleansing, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability
• Document business logic, data definitions, and reporting methodologies
• Assist in the development and maintenance of data models using SSAS (Tabular/Multidimensional) or Snowflake
• Participate in UAT and production validation for new or enhanced analytics solutions
• Work with cross-functional teams to support ad-hoc analysis and reporting needs
• Contribute to the standardization and automation of recurring reporting processes
