Turning Point, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, motivated Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) to join our dedicated team providing culturally responsive and trauma-informed mental health services. Under the supervision of licensed clinicians and the Director of Treatment Services, you will play a key role in delivering person-centered support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Working across both outpatient and inpatient settings, you will help clients build coping skills, improve emotional well-being, and move toward stability and recovery. This role is ideal for professionals looking to deepen their clinical experience and grow toward independent licensure.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide individual, group, and/or family therapeutic services based on individualized treatment plans.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and assist in developing person-centered care plans.
  • Support clients in developing coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and independent living skills.
  • Collaborate with case managers, medical professionals, family members, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency and state requirements.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, clinical supervision, and training.

Requirements:

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and clinically minded Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) to join our team at Turning Point, Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in behavioral health, cultural competence, and a deep commitment to supporting individuals (particularly in the African American and other underserved communities) on their recovery journeys. Key qualifications and skills include:

  • Must meet Minnesota Mental Health Practitioner qualifications under MN Statute § 245I.04, Subd. 4 , which includes one of the following:

-Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science or related field with 2,000 hours of supervised experience.

-Completion of 4,000 hours of supervised mental health service experience;

-Master’s or graduate degree in a behavioral science or related field;

-Completion or enrollment in a qualifying practicum or internship.

  • Experience working with individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders preferred.
  • Demonstrated cultural responsiveness , with a strong understanding of issues impacting African American communities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills ; ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn and navigate electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, handle sensitive information confidentially, and work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must pass a DHS background study and meet all state and agency compliance requirements.
