Job Title: Licensed Psychologist Law Enforcement Psychological Evaluations (New York)
Job Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Location: Remote (Must be licensed in the State of New York)
Compensation: Competitive per-candidate rate; project-based
About the Opportunity KENTECH is seeking a
New York-licensed psychologist to support a high-impact, multi-year contract. This is a fully remote role conducting pre-employment psychological assessments for trooper candidates via secure, HIPAA-compliant online platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological interviews with law enforcement candidates remotely via secure video platform
- Interpret psychological test results and background/life history questionnaires
- Prepare individualized psychological assessment reports with suitability ratings
- Comply with all NYSP evaluation procedures and data privacy requirements (HIPAA, FIPS 140-3, etc.)
- Deliver evaluations within the timeline specified (typically 23 weeks per cycle)
- Provide expert testimony if required in the event of a legal challenge
- Participate in internal QA processes and collaborate with the broader evaluation team
- Maintain compliance with state/federal regulations on data encryption and confidentiality
Minimum Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted license as a psychologist in the State of New York (required)
- PhD or PsyD in Clinical, Forensic, or Industrial-Organizational Psychology
- Minimum 5 years of experience in psychological evaluations for law enforcement or public safety candidates
- Proficiency with at least two validated instruments (e.g., CPI, PAI, STAXI)
- Demonstrated ability to produce legally defensible reports with suitability ratings
- Strong understanding of adverse impact reporting and protected class considerations
- U.S. Citizenship and residency required (per state contract)
Additional Requirements
- Must provide and maintain current Professional Liability Insurance coverage
- Must have access to a HIPAA-compliant workspace and secure internet connection
- Must use personal computer equipment compatible with contract security standards
- Willingness to complete background check and provide license verification
- Comfortable using secure scheduling, testing, and reporting platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- ABPP Board Certification in Police & Public Safety Psychology
- Experience working with state law enforcement agencies or large-scale police departments
- Prior experience delivering expert testimony in psychological evaluation-related litigation
