Join to apply for the Laboratory Technician - 117481 role at The Johns Hopkins University Requisition ID: 117481 Laboratory Technician We are seeking a Laboratory Technician who will dedicate most of their effort/time to a research project investigating the role of DNA repair and nucleotide metabolism in prostate cancer disparities. The role also involves laboratory maintenance and supporting general research activities. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Mouse handling and treatment experience. Basic science techniques. Translational research knowledge. Problem-solving skills. Reading relevant literature. Training by Dr. Kimiko Krieger and senior lab members to perform project experiments. Performing experiments including mouse work, cell culture, genetic silencing, cloning, gel and protein electrophoresis, immunofluorescence microscopy, and other molecular biology techniques. Meeting regularly with Dr. Krieger to plan experiments and discuss results; presenting data at group meetings. Preparing solutions, media, buffers, reagents, and drug stocks. Ordering supplies and maintaining mice and lab organization. Arranging repair and maintenance of lab equipment. Complying with biohazard safety standards. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent with some science coursework. Preferred Qualifications One to two years of laboratory research experience. Experience with mice, microscopy, and molecular biology is desirable. Certificate from a technical institute or internship experience. Training Certificate from Technical Institute. Additional Information Salary range: $15.40 - $23.25 hourly, based on experience. Location: School of Public Health, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm. Johns Hopkins offers a comprehensive benefits package. Candidates will undergo background checks and must comply with vaccine requirements.
