Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and analytical Financial Risk Manager to lead our efforts in identifying, assessing, and managing market (interest rate risk), price, liquidity, and investment risks across the organization. This role will be instrumental in enhancing our risk framework, developing models, and advising senior stakeholders on risk exposures. This role does not involve credit risk responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Risk Identification and Assessment:
  • Market & Price Risk Management:
  1. Monitor and assess exposures to market variables.
  2. Develop and implement risk metrics (VaR, stress testing, sensitivity analysis) to quantify exposures.
  3. Identify market risk factors impacting portfolio and balance sheet performance.
  • Liquidity Risk Oversight
  1. Analyze funding sources and liquidity positions under both normal and stress conditions.
  2. Monitor and report on liquidity ratios and other internal liquidity metrics.
  3. Participate in contingency funding planning and stress testing exercises.
  • Investment Risk Evaluation
  1. Assess risks associated with the organization’s investment portfolio (e.g., market volatility, duration mismatch, concentration).
  2. Provide insights on asset allocation, diversification strategies, and policy compliance.
  3. Assist in setting investment risk limits and monitor adherence to investment guidelines.
  4. Risk Policy and Governance:
  • Contribute to the development and review of risk policies and procedures.
  • Update policies as necessary in response to changes in the financial landscape or organizational needs.
  • Support risk committees and provide actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Collaborate with finance, treasury, and strategy teams to embed risk awareness across the organization.
  1. Reporting and Communication:
  • Prepare and present clear, concise risk management reports, dashboards, and recommendations to senior management, the risk committee, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial risk assessments and mitigation strategies effectively across the organization.
  1. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, standards, and internal controls.
  • Prepare for and facilitate audits related to financial risk management and implement recommendations for improvements.
  1. Collaboration and Advisory:
  • Work closely with finance, investment, and treasury teams to provide risk insights and advice on financial decisions.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on financial risk management practices and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, or PRM are highly desirable.
  • 5 plus years of experience in credit risk management or a related field, preferably within the banking industry.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in financial risk management, preferably in banking, asset and liability management (ALM), or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of financial risk management concepts, financial analysis, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of market, liquidity, and investment risk concepts and metrics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
