Environmental Engineer - Barnwell, SC

We're seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental Engineer to lead and maintain environmental compliance in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a high-impact role where you'll shape policy, ensure regulatory alignment, and partner with cross-functional teams to support a 24/7 operation. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update internal environmental policies and procedures

  • Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations

  • Serve as the primary liaison for all regulatory agencies (federal, state, local)

  • Monitor and assess changes in environmental law and adapt policies accordingly

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve environmental risks or issues

  • Design and manage pollution monitoring systems related to air, land, and water

  • Conduct environmental impact studies and report findings to leadership

  • Ensure adherence to environmental legislation across all departments and functions

  • Lead advanced technical projects and advise on best practices

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment , ideally within the wood products industry

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental compliance

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field required

  • CEP certifications preferred

  • Skilled in project-based goal setting and cross-functional communication

Additional Requirements

  • Role based in Barnwell, SC within a manufacturing setting

  • Occasional travel up to 5%; must be open to short-notice travel

  • Full-time position; standard hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM , but extended and weekend hours may be required based on plant needs

  • Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, walking, and using hands/fingers
