The Ads Retrieval team plays a critical role in identifying and surfacing the right ads to users. As the Engineering Manager for Ads Retrieval, you will lead a team of ML engineers to develop large-scale retrieval systems and candidate sourcing models that drive the top of the funnel for our Ads platform.

Responsibilities:

• Set Technical Vision & Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for ads retrieval—balancing innovation, efficiency, and business impact.


• Oversee Model & System Development: Guide end-to-end ML model development (data processing, training, deployment) and ensure robust, scalable retrieval systems.


• Mentor & Grow Your Team: Recruit, mentor, and retain top ML talent, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and other Engineering teams to align retrieval strategies with product requirements and KPIs.


• Continuous Improvement: Advocate for model quality, system reliability, and operational excellence. Identify opportunities to improve ML engineer velocity and overall performance.

Candidate Profile:

• 2+ years of engineering management experience, leading ML or related technical teams.


• 6+ years of industry experience with large-scale ML, ideally in information retrieval, recommendation systems, or ads.


• 4+ years of Hands-on expertise with ML frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.


• Experience deploying ML models to production and measuring their performance through both technical and business metrics.


• Familiarity with ads ecosystems, marketplace dynamics, and candidate retrieval is a major plus.

Pay Transparency:

This job posting may span more than one career level.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base pay range for this position is:

$230,000—$322,000 USD
