About the Role:

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Public Relations to join our team. As a strategic thinker and exceptional communicator, you'll develop and execute comprehensive communications and media relations strategies that align with our mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement measurable communications and PR strategies that drive brand awareness and media coverage, with clear KPI’s and success metrics across leisure, luxury and group segments.

· Develop and execute strategic earned media plans to promote our brand and messaging

· Direct and manage media relations, including press releases, media pitches, and media and influencer FAMs

· Develop and manage comprehensive influencer partnerships with demonstratable ROI.

· Establish and maintain media relationships with key contacts and publications

· Supervise the Communications team to ensure program success and efficiency

· Collaborate with the content team to align and integrate social media content with PR and influencer initiatives

· Develop and execute integrated campaigns and content plans with the Director of Marketing

· Collaborate with the Director of Community Relations on crisis communications, community messaging, and other external communications.

· Liaises with internal teams, strategic partners, and community stakeholders to gather information and secure destination coverage.

· Respond to and secures local and regional media opportunities for the organization.

· Update and maintain the crisis communications plan and communications as part of the organization's crisis management team.

· Act as organization spokesperson as required.

· Plan and attend out-of-market media events, missions, and trade shows.

· Create internal process efficiencies and improve value for stakeholders.

· Ensure accuracy and quality of PR materials.

· Contribute to the organization's management direction and serve as an ambassador for the organization.

Our Ideal Candidate:

. Ability to work in our Monterey, CA office three days per week.

. Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or related field

· 3-5 years of experience in a director-level Communications or Public Relations position

· Prior experience in destination marketing, travel and tourism, or PR agency roles

· Proven sound independent decision-making abilities

· Ability to execute crisis communication

· Ability to handle concurrent tasks and multiple deadlines

· Knowledge of Monterey County products and assets

· Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

· Proficient in Microsoft Office products, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel and familiar with cloud computing environments

· Competitive salary range of $95,000 -$110,000 depending on experience
