The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis is to provide comfort, care and a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children. Our objective is to enable families to practice family-centered care by providing them with all of the basic comforts of home.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis has a full-time Director of Marketing & Communications position open. This position is part of a mission-focused team of professionals providing compassion and hospitality to families with seriously ill children.

The Communications and Marketing Director provides strategic leadership and hands-on execution of all communications, marketing, and public relations activities for the organization. This role ensures that the nonprofit’s mission, programs, and impact are clearly articulated to diverse stakeholders—including donors, partners, families served, staff, volunteers, and the broader community. The Director develops and implements integrated strategies to increase visibility, strengthen the brand, drive fundraising success, and support staff in effectively communicating the organization’s story. The Director plays a key role in fostering internal communications.

As part of the RMHC management, the position collaborates with the leadership team to achieve position and organizational goals in support of the RMHC mission and Core Values.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive, strategic experience in marketing and communications, with proven leadership responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong writing, editing, and graphic design skills
  • Experience with social media and website management
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs

Essential Functions:

  • Leads the development and implementation of integrated marketing and communications strategies to advance organizational visibility and fundraising efforts.
  • Oversees all marketing and communications activities, including:
    • Writing, editing, and graphic design
    • Website management and digital storytelling
    • Photography and videography
    • PR, media outreach, and public service announcements
    • Fundraising and stewardship communications
  • Oversees RMHC digital marketing program & online communications
    • Regularly updates social media channels and website, ensuring accuracy and brand alignment.
  • Provides communications support for organizational programs and events, including:
    • In-house and third-party events
    • Meals from the Heart
    • Red Shoe Society
  • Serves as a key member of the crisis communications team, collaborating with Executive Team members to execute response plans
  • Oversees the Merchandise Program.
  • Leads the Ambassadors Program, including recruitment and training materials and volunteer training in partnership with staff.
  • Oversees marketing-related budget line items and ensures cost-effective strategies.
  • Manages relationships with external agencies and consultants as needed.
  • Manages assigned committees and subcommittees, including preparation, communication, and record keeping.

Physical Demands

Must be able to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects. Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavy material up to 10–15 lbs. Must be able to frequently climb stairs (up to 3 flights) and walk distances up to 80 yards. Must be able to travel between RMH locations as needed. Regular and reliable attendance required.
